Question: Is learning to fly expensive?
We don't think so! Well, not at Sydney Jabiru Flying School anyway!

Training fees are $145 per flying hour (or part thereof) This includes a thorough ground briefing before and after your flight.

Question: How long will it take to get my license?

Firstly, The RAA issues Pilot Certificates, not licenses. Pilot Licenses are for General Aviation aircraft and issued by CASA. Although much of our training follows similar themes, the RAA Pilot Certificate does not allow you to fly a GA aeroplane.

OK, now - how long?
Well, that really is up to you. The RAA has a requirement of twenty hours minimum flight instruction with five of those being completed solo. If you are a "natural pilot", you may gain proficiency very quickly. Others may take a while longer. Whatever the time frame, your emphasis MUST be on learning the required skills patiently and with regard to maximum safety.

Question: Do I have to commit to any structured schedule?
NO! Although there is a structured sylabus for training, you move at your own pace and do as much or as little as you like, when you please.

Question: Do I have to buy anything?
Not at first, everything is provided. If you decide to commence training with us, you will need to Join the RAA, apply for your Student Pilot Certificate and buy a Pilots Log Book. That's all. There are certain reference texts you may wish to purchase later.

Question: How do I get started?
Simple! Either join the RAA and apply for your Student Pilot Certificate and get right into it or take a Trial Instructional Fight (TIF) for half an hour or one hour to see if it's for you.

Question: How do I join the RAA?
We can help you with that or simply contact the RAA direct.
